Insomnia Gaming Festival – i65 (23rd – 26th August)

Cosplay Zone

From the sublime to the intentionally ridiculous, we’ll once again be welcoming cosplayers of any level and ability to our cosplay zone and to take part in our cosplay masquerade. With top prizes on offer, don’t miss the chance to showcase your creativity and costumes live on the Insomnia Stage.

Want to get hands on with cosplay? Ever wondered how to piece together a League of Legends character from scratch? add lights to your cosplay prop? Experiment with sewing machines or try out some amazing weapons? Come and have a go in our maker space; we will be systematically breaking down cosplay techniques by making parts of gaming characters you know and love through the course of the weekend and letting you try too!

Combining ‘Costume and Play’; get involved with interactive shows breathing life into the biggest fictional characters from the worlds of gaming and pop-culture.We’ll feature workshops throughout the weekend explaining the techniques you’ve learnt through our stage epics.

Jam packed with several sets to capture the perfect photo, a myriad of pro’s to chat to about best practice & techniques and several exhibits – including our new interactive Sewing Zone; visit the Cosplay Zone at i65!

Want to connect with the characters that make up cosplay? While we predominantly celebrate gaming characters, we will also be including a series of throwbacks to other fandoms and genres. Ranging from TV, Film, Anime and Comics. All cosplay is welcome at Insomnia Gaming Festival!

Cosplay Facilities at the event will include; Green room and repair station, changing rooms and friendly staff on hand to help. Visit the zone area in the exhibition hall and join the Cosplay Masquerade.

Laura Benson, also known as Lola In Progress Creative, is a multi award winning cosplayer with a decade of experience.

She has since completed costumes from a range of Anime, Games, Movies and TV and has had her work featured in multiple publications and exhibitions world wide.

A long time nerd, Laura has a passion for comic costumes but a good design with plenty of detail is all it takes to grab her attention for her next project. Cosplay Guest

I started cosplay in 2014 with my amazing cosplay buddy Half Pint Cosplay. Cosplay has become my main passion throughout my time at University (although my course was completely unrelated). I love being able to loose my self in a new project and also meeting amazing new people out at conventions.

Fantail Cosplay’s Luna has been cosplaying for 14 years. Always loving a challenge when it comes to Cosplay, whether it be a limiting budget, to something more mechanical like a pair of folding wings. She loves making Cosplay and the craft side always trying new techniques, but never limiting to one media, exploring into multiple areas with each costume from using Worbla to paper mache and from blanket stitching to embroidery. She is very excited to be able to attend Insomnia65 and meet all the Cosplayers and attendees.

Hi I'm Cosqueenie,
Nice to meet all you lovely gamers and Cosplayers alike. If you want to know a little bit about me, I have been a avid Cosplayer for 6 years now and still loving every minute of it.
I wear a combination of homemade and bought Cosplays, although as time went by I found simply getting into a costume my favorite part! Cosplay to me is bringing the characters I love to life, and with that bringing smiles to both kids and adults; as I bring there beloved characters to life in the real world!

Having recently performed alongside microsoft, with his costumes appearing in various promotions to syndicate videos, Atom Cosplay will be joining us in the Props Zone.

“I never really knew cosplay existed at first. I made costumes for fancy dress parties and Halloween, I entered my first Masquerade and fell in love. I work mainly with eva foam, expanding foam, cardboard etc, and love to upcycle/recycle anything into a costume. Since getting the hang of Foam Smithing, I’ve started adding motors, LEDs and even home made smoke machines into my cosplays.
