Yes, the more of your costume that is constructed by yourself, the more points you will score in the craftsmanship category.

All costumes will qualify for Character Concept and performance categories.

How will the competition be judged?

This will be judged by:

Becoming the Character Costume/Character Concept (Character Personification) Who are you cosplaying? What are their motivations? Where are they from? How well are these ideas communicated to us? Show us how well you understand your character—be them!

Stage Style Performance(Performance and Audience) – This is a catwalk style event, strut your stuff and pose in character. Show us what you’ve got! Know what you want to do, be confident, use as much of the space as you can. The bigger the cheers, the better your score!

Craftsmanship – This is split into two:

Junior Self-Made: A contestant who has constructed their own costume.
You’ve made your costume (or most of it) yourself—wow! That takes hard work and creativity. We want to celebrate all your effort and skill.

Adult-Made: A contestant whose costume has been constructed by an adult.
Your costume was made by a grown-up or with help—and that’s okay! This is for cosplayers who’ve had a little extra magic from adults (parents, carers, or costume makers are welcome to join in with you!).

How much has been made and how well constructed each handmade, altered or adjusted element is such as costume, props, accessories and makeup. Showing and explaining how you made your cosplay is encouraged on the signup form. Help us see how you’ve created your masterpiece!

Don’t be shy about attending if you have not made your costume. Judges also have the ability to award special honour mentions for something they love, they are used to encourage you to think outside the box and have fun!
